Not an official source
Who Serves compiles information from official and published sources. It is not itself an official record, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Parliament, any legislature, municipality, government department, the Electoral Commission or any political party. Where it matters, check the source we link to — it is the authoritative version.
Accuracy and timeliness
We check what we publish and correct errors quickly, but the sources we rely on can themselves contain errors, and there is always a delay between a change (a resignation, a reshuffle, a by-election) and the record reflecting it. Software helps us find and match records to people; editors review what it finds, but mistakes can still happen. The "as of" dates on each page show when the record was last checked. If you spot an error, please tell us.
Allegations are not findings
Accountability records report matters that are on the public record — court cases, investigations, findings of official bodies and matters reported by established news organisations — together with the stage each matter has reached.
- A record that a person has been accused, investigated, charged or named in a report does not mean they did anything wrong. Everyone accused of an offence is presumed innocent until proven guilty (section 35(3)(h) of the Constitution).
- Findings of oversight bodies may be taken on review, set aside or overturned; convictions may be appealed. We record outcomes as they happen, including acquittals, withdrawn charges and findings set aside.

Declared interests
Interests are shown as declared by the office-holder in the relevant statutory register. Having an interest is not in itself improper — the purpose of the register is transparency. We reproduce declarations as made and do not verify them.
Qualifications
"Declared" means a qualification as stated by an official biography, the person's party or their office; "verified" means an editor confirmed it with the institution or checked documentary evidence. A declared qualification has not been independently verified.
Absence of information
The record is not complete and never will be. The absence of an accountability record, a declared interest or a qualification does not mean none exists; the presence of a record is not a complete account of a person's conduct or career.
People with the same name
Make sure you are looking at the right person: several people can share a name. Who Serves concerns people only in their capacity as holders of public office and does not identify private individuals.
No advice
Nothing on Who Serves is legal, financial, investment or voting advice. It is information, offered so that you can form your own views.
Neutrality
Who Serves does not support or oppose any party, candidate or policy. People are listed in a consistent order (by office, then alphabetically), and the same standards apply to everyone regardless of party. Money given to the developers never influences the record — see the coffee terms.
